State Controller Betty Yee Endorses Wendy Carrillo for Re-Election to State Assembly

Today, Assemblymember Wendy Carrillo’s campaign for re-election to the new 52nd Assembly District announced the endorsement of California State Controller Betty Yee.

State Controller Betty Yee said: “Wendy Carrillo is the clear choice to continue serving all Californians in the State Assembly. Wendy has fought to ensure we close the gap for low-income Californians by financially empowering historically marginalized communities and making sure everyone has the opportunity to succeed. Wendy’s continued leadership is needed in the State Assembly.”

State Controller Betty Yee was first elected in November 2014 and was re-elected for a second term as Controller in 2018. She is only the tenth woman in California history to be elected to statewide office. As Controller, Yee serves as chief fiscal officer of the world’s fifth largest economy and has more than 35 years of experience in public service, specializing in state and local finance and tax policy.

State Controller Betty Yee’s endorsement is the latest in a wave of endorsements for Wendy Carrillo, with State Treasurer Fiona Ma and the California Nurses Association throwing their early support behind Carrillo’s re-election to Assembly District 52. Carrillo was first elected to the State Assembly in 2017, Wendy has enacted new laws to strengthen worker protections, ensure clean air and water and protect seniors and people living with disabilities.  She has secured millions of dollars in funding for  homelessness and affordable housing efforts, COVID relief, after-school programs, healthcare coverage.  

The Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2022.
